However, it appears that Tory Lanez's attempts were unsuccessful. In a petition on Thursday, October 30, Judge Lisette M. Reid rejected this request for a protection order, according to Billboard. It is "unclear" how a third deposition would even impact his appeal, the court said.
The judge further stated that the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination is still guaranteed by Lanez's required and reliable deposition. He may use it "on a question-by-question basis, the undersigned who will be supervising the deposition will determine the propriety of which.
